History
Coon’s Dairy was first established in 1985 by Kevin and Sue Coon. Back then they were affiliated with Murray Goulburn and distributed their brand of milk. Later the same year, Murray Goulburn bought out the local North-East Dairies and in January 1987, KW and S Coon took over as the supplier of the once locally produced Kiewa Milk. What started out as a two-person business soon developed into having a staff of seven locals. Coon’s Dairy grew dramatically and continued to evolve with the industry to this day.
Linda Coon took over ownership in 2015 and proudly still trades under the family business name first used by her parents. In 2017, Murray Goulburn made the decision to close the factory at Kiewa and stop the production of the local Kiewa Milk. After being the driving force of success behind that brand, Coon’s Dairy was left without a milk supplier. Emotionally this was one of the hardest times for the business to work through. Linda wanted to find a high-quality milk brand that was being produced as locally as possible. Coon’s Dairy had always had an association with Riverina Fresh and understood it had a long lasting and genuine relationship with both the farmers that supplied them and the distributors who represented them.
In the end, it was an easy decision to become a Riverina Fresh distributor. Coon’s Dairy received the last delivery of Kiewa Milk in late July 2017, and by the second week of August, were the very proud distributors of Riverina Fresh.
The partnership with Riverina Fresh has exceeded expectations for Coon’s Dairy with a reliable supply of quality products for our valued customers.
